about
2017 brought us the worst fire season in American history. Over 9.5 million acres burned across North America. It was also the seventh-worst Atlantic hurricane season on record and the worst since 2005. Not to mention, it brought us a cheeto dumbutt for a president. The federal government’s slow response to damage from Hurricane Maria and Irma in Puerto Rico, and prioritization of corporate profits over health and safety, are evidence of our government’s neglect for environmental justice. I wrote this song in 2016 in response to the events at Standing Rock, but the fight is nowhere near over. So long as Trump is president and there is a capitalist system that protects the rights and assets of the powerful and wealthy while threatening the safety, health, and human rights of those most effected by its ignorance, I will keep singing this damn song. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS TRACK WILL GO TO THE ENVIRONMENT JUSTICE FOUNDATION, which looks at environmental security through a human rights lens on an international scale.
